This month saw a change from the lunches that Ann Fehle organises as we had a supper  instead . A big thank you to Ann who orgainses these events on a regular basis and we have had a variety of speakers both on Island and off Island . In May  Prof . Lalage Bown spoke on womens education and her vast experience and travels . The format of these events is informal but a chance to hear interesting speakers and enjoy constructive conversation over great lunches which each person orders and pays for.  They are usually held at 14 North on the Quay  and Ann has some great speakers in line for next year.

UN Day on 10th October with Sir Richard Jolly was widely enjoyed and publicised but we also used Sir Richards presence to work with the One World Centre and hold a forum on Sustainable Development Goals which was chaired by Angela Little with a wide selection of attendees from Isle of Man Government and the private sector.

More details here:

Sir Richard Jolly KCMG is a Honorary Professor & Research Associate of the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex.

Also this month saw another co-operative event with our Affiliate Members. The Association is well aware that there are others on the Island who follow the ethic of the UN but we all face the same issue re funding and lack of volunteers. That is why the Board have invited  Affiliate Members who, are not voting members,  but work with the association in promoting common ideas.

WHO Mental Health Day October 10th brought another opportunity and UNAIOM hosted an event held at the Family Library. A Summary of this is attached for your information . This was so popular with the charities that attended that we have been asked to hold the bi annually. We have also been asked to look at other mental health issues and presentations within schools so another method of being constructive within the islands community.
